As part of the 80 Years of Freedom celebrations, Fort Kijkduin is organizing an inspiring lecture on war and peace on Friday, May 2, 2025. Historian and author Erlend van Ark, known for his books on military history, will guide visitors through the impact of past wars and the lessons they hold for today.
During the lecture, Van Ark will discuss both World War I and World War II, as well as contemporary conflicts. He will address questions such as: What were the causes of these wars? How did the battles unfold globally? And what can we learn for the future?

Erlend van Ark is a historian, educator, and author. He is co-owner of the tutoring institute TEL and teaches history through KaperGerlings. Additionally, he writes books and blogs about (military) history on his website www.erlendvanark.nl.
