Step back in time and experience what it was like to live at Fort Kijkduin during the mobilization of the Netherlands. Our family exhibition takes both young and old to 1939, a time when the Dutch army was put on high alert.
Follow the story of Co van Es, a 21-year-old soldier who was called up for pre-mobilization on April 11, 1939. Discover how he and his fellow soldiers lived, slept, and worked at Fort Kijkduin. Children can learn through play how the soldiers stayed fit, kept an eye on enemy ships, and prepared for what was to come.
